Originally from Switzerland and a Boston Area resident for over 30 years, Peter moved to Jamaica Plain in 2013. Since then, he has been involved in the JPA and also served on the JPNC board for a couple of years. Peter is now a recently retired scientist, entrepreneur and executive who spent his career supporting clinical trials of new treatments mostly for musculoskeletal disorders and cancer. Throughout his professional life, he had the opportunity to live and work in various countries around the world. Peter has chosen JP as the place for retirement because of its diversity in culture, its proximity to Boston’s cultural attractions, and its natural beauty. He is committed to contribute to the preservation and growth of all those things.


Peter Elmuts, 2nd Vice-Chair

Peter Ivars Elmuts was born in Boston after his parents emigrated from Latvia and has been a life-long resident of Jamaica Plain. He speaks Latvian fluently and has been a member of the Latvian Lutheran Church of Boston since birth. Peter graduated from Boston University and has worked at the Massachusetts General Hospital/Partners HealthCare System (MGH/PHS) for 49 years holding several positions of increasing responsibilities. He has received numerous awards and recognitions during his academic years and at MGH/PHS. He has served on the scholarship review committee which reviews and recommends scholarship recipients. Throughout his professional career, he was a member of the American Hospital Association and also served on the MGH Emergency Hazmat Team. He sat on a wide number of committees and was involved with the mergers of Mass General Hospital and Brigham & Women’s Hospital establishing the Partners HealthCare System - now called Mass General Brigham. As Partners continued to obtain more hospitals, Peter was promoted to the corporate level. Peter has been a member of the Jamaica Pond Association for many years – having been nominated and elected to the JPA Board of Directors in 2018 and recently as Vice Chair.
